A face and neck lift aims at reshaping the face oval and the angle of the neck and the chin which tend to become loose over time.
It will help give the face a relaxed look without freezing its expressions. The current techniques are ideal in obtaining a natural result that patients desire.
It can be carried out as soon as the first signs of aging appear, most of the timebetween 40 or 45 years of age.
It can be combined with an eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), or with surgical -lipomodelage- or medical therapeutic treatments such as -peels, hyaluronic acid, and botulinum toxin.
Before the face and neck lift
Please allow yourself a professional or social unavailability period of 10 to 15 days after surgery.
Patients having colored hair may consider doing their color just before the treatment: Those treatments are advised against for one month after the surgery in order not to irritate the scar.
Aspirin-based and anti-inflammatory medication must be avoided 8 days before the procedure in order to reduce the risk of bleeding.
A homeopathic preparation with arnica (5CH) can be taken 4 days before and 4 days after the surgery in order to limit bruising.
It is performed under general anesthesia or neuroleptanalgesy, a local anesthesia combined with mild sedative. The procedure lasts between 2 and 5 hours.
Patients can return home on the day after surgery or, in some cases, on the very same day.
The scars are hidden with hair, inside and behind the ear. They are very discreet. Depending on case, the following procedures are carried out:
- A minilift for a slight correction of the face oval and the neck,
- A complete face and neck lift with a SMAS (superficial Musculo Aponevrotic System) tightening in order to reshape the structure of the face as a whole,
- A complementary lipofilling aiming at reshaping the volumes of the face.
The skin is always redraped in a natural way, no excessive tension is applied, this way the result is as natural as possible.
After the procedure
The operation is usually painless, but a feeling of pressure may appear, especially behind the ears and some patient might need basic painkillers.
A “helmet garment” maintains the bandage in a good position during the 24 hours following surgery.
Garments are removed when the patients return home.
The first shampoo can be done on the day after surgery,
Then the scars are left out in the open. They are hidden in front and behind by hair. The only slightly visible area , in front of the ear, can be temporarily hidden with the hairstyle or make up.
The stitches are removed between the 5th and the 10th day.
Make up can be worn again after 7 days.
Lymphatic drainage sessions with a physiotherapist expert will help reducing edema.
The definitive result becomes visible after 3 months.
If the treatment is properly done, you will look 10 years younger, the appearance of the face will be rejuvenated while remaining natural.
A second lift may be considered after about 15 years.
